April 27, 2020SIGHT AMBASSADORS -the FIRST ever social media app for EYE DONATION was launched, as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility. This application was launched during an eye donation event in Anna University.
The 'Sight Ambassadors' app received more than 200 applications from students and members of Society of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Anna University.
In an innovative effort to rope in more eye donors, Vasan Eye Care launched this application on its Facebook page, and those wishing to donate their eyes can do so by filling out the online pledge form at www.facebook.com/vasanhealth. Stressing that corneal transplant was the need of the hour, Dr Anand Parthasarathy, medical director, Vasan Eye Care, pointed out that the demand outnumbered the available donor tissues. “Transplants are the only effective means for replacement of human tissues in the eye. Gift of sight is very precious and valuable for millions of people all over the world who are visually impaired,” he said.
