Two years old baby undergoes Complicated Rare Congenital Cataract Surgery

Date: 22/5/2015 Congenital Cataract, although rare, usually occurs bilaterally. If it is present unilaterally, it requires immediate attention. A 2 year old child was diagnosed with unilateral congenital cataract. The parents visited multiple centers as it was a complicated case and expensive. Most of the ophthalmologists refused to do the surgery and parents were unable to afford the cost of surgery as well. Dr. Ajeet Dwivedi (MBBS, MS), Sr. Ophthalmologist, Vasan Eye Care Hospital, Patna and Dr. Sharad (Anesthetist) took the challenge and successfully implanted Hydrophobic Aspheric Foldable IOL under general anesthesia after cataract extraction.. He underwent “Aggressive Amblyopia Treatment” thereafter. Now the patient is doing well.
